Cox King of Ashley Forest

The hard work that the Cox Motorsport team have put in before and during the 2017 Motul Possum Bourne Motorsport Ashley Forest Rallysprint has paid off, with driver Sloan Cox taking top honours on the event and setting a new overall course record.

Cox made history in 2016 when he did what many considered to be the impossible when he was the only driver to break Kim Austin’s 17 year old course record of 56.57 seconds, which he broke three times in one day to set a new course record of 55.23 seconds. During this years event Cox was the only one to break his record and set a new time of 54.96 seconds.

“This weekend has been an amazing one for the Cox Motorsport team. I knew from last year that there was still more left in the car and it was exciting to be able to beat my own record again this year. It is also the best feeling to make it through the final run without any issues and secure the overall event win and even more special to have sponsors at the event with us to share in the win. I am looking forward to next year’s event where we will continue to challenge for the overall win and for a new course record,” States Cox.

A big thank you must go to our awesome group of sponsors, Taslo Engineering, AJ’s Emporium, Si Lodec, Stadium Cars Ltd, Oil Imports Rotorua, Driveline Automotive, Signedge, Mainfreight Rotorua, Ambrosia Restaurant and Bar, Rotorua Heating Solutions and The Tyre Rack.
