At what age were you when you first got involved in motorsport? 18
Who was your biggest influence in rallying when growing up?
Carlos Sainz was the man
What was your very first rally car?
1975 Toyota Corolla KE25
What has been the most fun rally car you have owned?
Toyota Corolla AE92 Group A & Escort RS1800
What is the ultimate special stage / rally for you?
Public road flowing in 3rd gear and above. I really enjoyed Daybreaker and Wairarapa this year.
What is your rally highlight to date?
Silver Fern win 2012
What vehicle format would you recommend for young drivers entering motorsport. Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive and why?
2wd car that is cheap to run so you can do lots.
What advice could you give an up-and-coming driver looking for sponsorship?
Work hard and make your own money to spend on rallying. The more miles you do the better, so rather than buying a 4wd car that costs a fortune to run, buy a good 2wd car and do as much as possible blind rallying.
In your opinion who was the best rally driver of all time and why?
There has been a lot. Possum was really the man, but in their day locally Reece Jones and Bruce Herbert were unbeatable. These days Richard Mason and Hayden Paddon are the bench mark.
Other than rally what other things / work are you involved in?
Family and work
What do you like to do to relax when not rallying?
Holidaying and water skiing in summer
Do you have any other talents that would surprise people (are you a budding artist / musician etc)?
Nope
What’s your goal for 2014?
Not sure what to do in 2014, still pondering!
