Cox Motorsport will be taking on the challenging Rally Waitomo this weekend, with it returning to the National Championship portfolio for the first time in many years. This has excited the team to have a change of scenery and rally on roads that the Taslo Engineering Evo X has never been on.
After a successful 6th place at Rally Coromandel in August the team were happy with the car’s performance and after a challenging championship to date, a finish was a much needed boost to the team’s confidence. There was a sigh of relief all around the tent, when Sloan and Sarah finished with very minimal mechanical issues and the car in one piece. The team are hoping it will continue in the same way for the upcoming Rally Waitomo.
“With the conditions being what they were at Rally Coromandel the car performed well with no major faults” comments Sloan. Cox Motorsport are hoping that the weather will hold out for Rally Waitomo so that the Evo X may return with another good, consistent result.
Despite the car performing well, the team felt it was important to check the diff, as well as carry out some routine maintenance before the next round. “We took the car for a test day a fortnight ago and found a fault with the differential. Which we can confirm has been fixed after a second test” states Sloan.
Rally Waitomo runs on Saturday over 200km of special stages with most of the six stages being longer than 30km’s. Due to the length of stages, the team believes this will be a test for all competitors and will be an exciting rally to watch.
