New Gravel Sprint Series For 2016

January will see the first round of the Dannevirke Car Club gravel sprint series kick off with a bang.

It’s been a long time since Dannevirke car club have run a series like this but hopes it will bring a fun, good value and very competitive aspect back to the club level scene.

Round 1 – 16/01/16
Millstream road will be round 1 of the series and is Sponsored by Mclean Ground Spreading.  Run the same format as previous years ,this is a well organised and fun event. A fast piece of road which has caught a couple out in the past. A quick turnaround ensures plenty of runs.

Round 2 – 13/02/16
Pahaheke road is round 2 of the series and is Sponsored by Dannevirke Dairy Supplies.  This fast but very technical section of road is run both ways just to keep you on your toes.

Round 3 – 19/03/16
Otaria road is round 3 of the series and is Sponsored by SPR Parts.  This is run a bit differently with a elimination system in place.  You will still get plenty of runs so don’t worry about being eliminated. Consistency is the key!

Round 4 – 16/04/16
Tararua road is round 4 of the series and is Sponsored by MJ Custom Engineering.  A classic that has not been used for a few years.  A fast flowing road with a few tighter sections. Should see a good field here.

Round 5 – 21/05/16
Nae Nae road is round 5 and the final round of the series and is Sponsored by The Engine Room Automotive.  This new road is similar to millstream road, fast and flowing.  Prize giving for the series will follow so make sure you stick around.

The points system used will be the same as the Central Region Rally points system.  This will provide a more competitive overall result and you won’t need a Turbo four wheel drive to win.

If your from further a field there’s plenty of YouTube footage available of these roads.

  1. What s the length of the roads and ls lt the fastest tme of the day that wns how do the plonts work

  2. Hi Lee, the roads range from 2 km to 5 km. We generally offer more than 3 runs at our events depending on road condition. Each round has its own format but the fastest run of the day will be winner and the points format will be worked out from that using the central region rally series points system.
