This was my first event for 2015 taking photographs. I had ventured out at MBOP’s Day/Night sprint but concentrated on leaning a different style of shooting. It felt good to be out in the stages again with my camera. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time available this week to give a full event report but want to get something posted online as I know a few of you are waiting to see the images.
Driving into the stage it was clear very quickly what a cool road this was going to be. The down side was its very narrow and not a lot of safe places to pull off the road and get the car clear of any flying stones etc. After 4 or 5 kms in we found a great hairpin bend with space for me to get the car right out the way. It was awesome to be shooting cars again.
One thing that continues to impress me is the MC2 of Alex Kelsey. I’ve seen it in action a several times now and its very impressive. Not only is it extremely quick, but the noise is unreal. Any YouTube/Movie clip you’ve seen online really doesn’t do this car justice. Make the effort and get into a stage an experience it for yourself. You really wont be disappointed! It appears that Alex has managed to get on top of some of the teething issues from last year and put in a great drive to secure a first win in this car. Well done team!
John Whooley was looking enthusiastic each time we saw him in his Lancer, although on the corners we saw him it looked like he was having difficulty turning in and suffered understeer. As ever Craig Stevens was using all the road in his Escort. I really do enjoy watching Craig “steer from the rear”. Another driver that was giving it heaps and stood out was Grant Blackberry, so much so I’m going to award him my sideways driver of the day. Good work Grant!
I’ll post full results as soon as they’re available.
