With hopes of an WRC round being in NZ during 2016 now gone, efforts are focused on making it happen for 2017.
Rally New Zealand are speaking to the Government to secure some funding. Rally NZ chairman Morrie Chandler says the major events fund will make a massive difference to achieving that goal.
“It’s a two-fold help. Not only financially it’s a help but secondly it’s certainly perceived by the world authorities as having the government stamp of approval and that’s important.”
It’s planned to host the event in the Tauranga area.
